Emissions Reduction Ρlans (PAS 2060, ISO 14068-1:2023, SBti)

Emissions Reduction Ρlans (PAS 2060, ISO 14068-1:2023, SBti)-Σεμινάρια στις ΠιστοποιήσειςIn recent years, a growing number of companies aligning their practices with legal requirements (Fit for 55) are setting strategic objectives towards carbon Neutrality. Consequently, a thorough evaluation of strategies to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is essential for realizing both short-term and long-term sustainability objectives.

This training session focuses on the importance of adopting standardized, dependable methodologies to reduce the Carbon emissions and guide companies towards achieving carbon neutrality.

Scope of the Training

1. Become familiar with the glossary:
Objective: Understand the most widely used terms for GHG mitigation plans and targets.
Description: This module will cover key terminologies and definitions essential for understanding and discussing greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation. Participants will learn terms such as carbon footprint, net zero, carbon neutrality, Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, and more. This foundational knowledge is crucial for effective communication and planning in GHG mitigation efforts.

2. Understand the stages to achieve carbon neutrality:
Objective: Learn how to recognize and prioritize the necessary actions needed to set targets and achieve goals.
Description: This section will outline the step-by-step process towards achieving carbon neutrality. It will include identifying current emissions, setting reduction targets, implementing reduction measures, offsetting remaining emissions, and monitoring and reporting progress. Participants will gain skills in planning and prioritizing actions to ensure a clear path to carbon neutrality.

3. Become familiar with some of the most recognized standards to mitigate emissions:
Objective: Learn the process that leads to compliance with standards such as PAS 2060, ISO 14068-1:2023, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBti).
Description: This module will introduce participants to internationally recognized standards for GHG mitigation. It will cover the requirements, benefits, and compliance processes associated with PAS 2060, ISO 14068-1:2023, and SBti, providing a framework for developing credible and effective GHG mitigation strategies.

4. Set science-based targets:
Objective: Learn the path to set targets in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement that limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
Description: This section will focus on how to set science-based targets (SBTs) that are consistent with the latest climate science. Participants will learn about the methodologies and tools available for setting SBTs, ensuring their emission reduction targets are ambitious yet achievable and aligned with global efforts to limit climate change.

5. Commit to carbon neutrality:
Objective: Learn how to communicate publicly your commitment to carbon neutrality according to standards.
Description: Effective communication of carbon neutrality commitments is crucial for transparency and stakeholder engagement. This module will guide participants on how to publicly declare their commitments, report progress, and engage with stakeholders according to recognized standards and best practices.

6. Be able to choose what fits for you:
Objective: Understand the available practices introduced by Standards PAS 2060, ISO 14068-1:2023, SBti, and follow what is best for your company.
Description: This final module will help participants evaluate and select the most appropriate standards and practices for their specific context. By comparing the different standards and their applications, participants will be equipped to make informed decisions that best suit their organizational needs and goals.

Proposed Participants
Environmental Compliance Officers:
Role: Design a tailored methodology to set targets for reducing emissions.
Benefit: Gain the expertise to create customized and effective GHG reduction plans that comply with relevant standards.

Sustainability Professionals:
Role: Integrate target considerations into broader sustainability strategies.
Benefit: Learn how to align GHG mitigation targets with overall sustainability initiatives to enhance organizational performance and reputation.

Policy Makers and Regulators:
Role: Gain insight into the development and implementation of carbon neutrality policies.
Benefit: Understand the frameworks and standards to inform policy development and regulatory practices that support carbon neutrality.

Industry Representatives (e.g., Manufacturing, Energy):
Role: Prepare for compliance and strategic adjustments in response to carbon neutrality.
Benefit: Develop strategies to meet regulatory requirements and leverage carbon neutrality as a competitive advantage.
